Background: Dr. Forst, who joined the Shoreline criminal justice faculty in 2001, retired at the rank of Captain from the Boca Raton (FL) Police Services Department. During her career she spent time in patrol, investigations, training, recruiting and hiring, internal affairs, and support services. The majority of her career was spent in patrol, including a 3-year assignment as Commander of the uniform division during which time she received the "Outstanding Community Service" award for 1994.
She earned her Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, her Master's degree in Community College Education, and her Doctorate in Adult Education from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. She is a graduate of the University of Louisville's Sex Crime Investigation school, Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command, and Outward Bound.
Dr. Forst has taught as an adjunct instructor at Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Community College and Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. Her dissertation addressed "Attitudes Toward Rape" and she has written numerous articles on women in law enforcement, crimes against women, community policing, and aging. She is the author of The Aging of America: A Handbook for Police Officers, (Charles C. Thomas publishers, 2000) and she is the co-author, with John S. Dempsey, Introduction to Policing (Wadsworth Publishing, 2008, 2010)
Dr. Forst member of Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and serve on the Board on Law Enforcement Training Standards and Education for the Criminal Justice Training Commission for the State of Washington

Background: Lieutenant Doug Jeske is a 24 year veteran of law enforcement. Doug is currently assigned as the Assistant Division Commander for the Special Operations Division of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. During the course of his career Doug has worked in numerous assignments including patrol, detectives, narcotics, and training. He has been a member of the Sheriff's Office SWAT team for 22 years and has held positions as operator, assistant team leader, team leader, and is currently the Team Commander. He began his training in defensive tactics in 1992 at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center completing every level and course of defensive tactics offered by the State, eventually earning Master Instructor certification. Doug has instructed classes for the Criminal Justice Training Center, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, numerous police departments throughout the state, as well as private companies.
Professor Jeske earned his Associate Of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Criminal Justice from Shoreline Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Background: Professor Ott retired from the Everett Police Department due to a disability in 2003 after thirteen years of service. During his career as a sworn police officer with the Everett Police Department, Professor Ott worked as a patrol officer, accreditation manager, background investigator, firearms instructor, less-lethal munitions instructor, D.A.R.E. Officer, and School Resource Officer. At a more advanced level, Professor Ott has training in crime prevention, accident investigation, and defensive tactics. Professor Ott graduated from the University of Idaho with a BS in communications and a minor in political science. He attended the University of Idaho School of Law for one year before receiving his MS with presidential honors in Public Administration from City University in 2003.
