Film club is more than meets the eye. Yes we do talk about films, but this past year we went on field trips to see various films, and even made a couple films.

My name is Ashley Bowdin and I was the President of Film Club for the 2008-2009 school year. My goal was to do more than what had been going on and that was simply one or two 48 Hour Film Competitions a year. Granted those are amazingly fun to make, I wanted more out of the club.

So we started out watching our favorite scenes from movies from specific topics such as favorite action sequence. The club ended up doing a 48hr competition in the fall, with a couple of teams entered. Then in the Winter quarter my Vice President Ash Navone and I, along with our adviser Ruth Gregory decided to forge into the independent short film making world. So we began planning everything. Unfortunately, like in the real film world we hit some snags, but this gives us a head start for next year when we will make our short.

For the 2009-2010 year we have some plans besides the making the indie short.

We hope to see you there!
