Health Informatics and Information Management:
Advisory Committee

ADVISORY COMMITTEE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CommitteeShoreline Community College utilizes community advisory committees in all of its professional/technical programs. The SCC Health Informatics and Information Management Advisory committee is made up of health information practitioners, faculty, students, and college administrators who provide advice regarding the planning, administration, curriculum, and evaluation of sound educational health information technology and medical coding and reimbursement programs. Advisory Committee members serve as the linkage between the health care industry and the educational institution.

It is, as the name suggests, advisory in nature having no administrative authority. However, the recommendations by the faculty for changes, based on advice and approval of the Advisory Committee, carry more force than without it. Meetings are open to students and other interested individuals.
