Shoreline is proud of its tradition of excellence in music instruction. Enthusiastic, expert faculty and staff are here to help students to succeed in their studies. The Music Department at Shoreline Community College, with over 20 faculty members, is the largest among the state's community colleges, allowing a student to choose from a full range of offerings, including a two-year classical music theory series, popular music theory, songwriting, private and group vocal and instrumental instruction, music appreciation, jazz history, technical training in audio engineering, Pro Tools, sound reinforcement, and MIDI composition and production.
We offer 13 performing groups which include the Shoreline Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Chorale, Shoreline Singers, Choir of the Sound, jazz combos, brass, woodwind, string, guitar, bluegrass and piano ensembles, and a popular music troupe - Funkngroove. In addition, Shoreline presents an opera every winter and a full fledged Broadway musical production, with large orchestra each spring.
Areas of Study We offer a wide variety of courses in music. Classes are offered in different formats, both on-campus at either the main campus or the Lake Forest Park campus and online. On-campus classes are scheduled throughout the day with morning, afternoon, and evening offerings.
